I met with a great friend earlier today to catch up. I remember a few years ago, we had coffee and she told me about her desire to open her own mental health practice. I remember the conversation was pretty laid back and as we continued talking she started to see how clearly it could come together.
Today we caught up in her beautiful office in downtown Pittsburgh. What an amazing and stunning thing, to see someone speak their dreams into manifestation. She never let up on her vision and today she is doing more than her initial vision ever even held.
That’s one of the very wonderful and mysterious things about pursuing passions and dreams, you find new ones along the way. Imagine searching through your heart to find the next thing you have to do and you happen to come across something that’s very precious to you. Even though you never knew it was there. It’s like going through an old attic in a house you grew up in and finding some piece of something from your past that you’re so glad you found. But in this case, it’s like that something has just appeared, as if it had been there the whole time. Well, it had. You just needed to discover it. And the only way that you found what you never knew you were searching for was by way of pursuing that which you knew was in your heart.
The value of the initial passion you began pursuing seems to double, so it ends up becoming inevitably more valuable and important to you than you even first imagined.
There is so much to be said about going after your dreams that it can hardly be contained within words. The fullness and weight of purpose that rests on you as you act and believe in magical things will do something to you that I can’t describe here. And it’s a good thing, because if words could truly capture it, reading them might be enough for you rather than living them. I promise, you can read every piece of success literature in existence, every rags-to-riches story written… it will never compare to the story you write.
